Randy had arrived a few minutes earlier with some ice cream and cookie goodies that we were to eat later in the evening. I had prepared a steaming vat of Ma Po Tofu and pan fried scallops for dinner. Edna and Erik had already eaten, but so they didn’t eat anything more than a few bites of my famous dish. I’m going to have to post the recipe for my Ma Po Tofu so others can learn to cook my favorite dish!
It was fun going through the pictures and watching the video. I hadn’t gotten the chance to review the coverage from the wedding since I returned, so it was like reliving the event all over again! I printed one of the photos from the wedding reception line on my Epson Stylus Photo 1280 printer. With my new computer, color matching and reproduction is a cinch with ColorSync. It was much more difficult with my PowerBook, since the LCD screen isn’t as good as my Studio Display. The resulting print was very, very nice on the heavyweight matte paper, so good that I think that I could have blown it up even further without sacrificing any quality.
On Tuesday evening, I had my monthly Stanford Newton User Group meeting. There was a new person at the meeting, Greg Wayman, who had read about the group from the NewtonTalk.net mailing list. It’s always great to meet old and new Newton owners at these meetings; there was even a guy who was walking into the Printer’s Inc. Cafe who said, “Oh cool! Newtons!” Apparently, Rob has been using Newtons for the past three years, but didn’t know that there was a group still meeting in Palo Alto every month.
Dave Strom gave me a copy of his latest comic book, a collection of comical stories featuring himself. The art in some of these issues are really good — black and white drawings from artists that Dave has met throughout the years. Seeing this in print is stirring my own desires to jump start my art projects. Remembrance, my now not-so daily comic, hasn’t been updated in, gasp, over a year! What’s up with Carrie and Kelly anyway? Are they taking like a year-long breakfast?!? I know that Frosted Mini-Wheats are good, but they can’t be that good, Kelly, can they?
Glen was showing off his new t-shirt, a Club Matrix shirt that he got from being an extra on the set of the Matrix sequels! Follow the white rabbit to salvation, Glen! Yes, but what pill would you or I have chosen?
We also ran into Larry Magid, a technology writer for the publications around the country, including the Los Angeles Times. He was reviewing some new hardware that you’ll be seeing in a week’s time. We had fun checking out the new stuff and giving our two cents. Who knows, we might show up in his next column!
