Some time ago, Rae told me that she was going to the wedding of one of her friends, Anita. She had created this illustration that she ended up giving to them for their wedding. Today, I got the chance to meet the newlyweds, Brian and Anita, at their place in San Jose. Turns out Brian works at Epiphany, a company at which a bunch of my friends used to work. Funny how you run into people that intersect your own social circle, you know?

On Friday night, I hung out with Randy in Mountain View. He convinced me not to bring my camera. After all, we were just going to go have dinner at this new Malaysian/Singaporean restaurant on Castro Street. Who in the world would we run into anyway?!?

Turns out we ran into four people that I knew! Edwin, Aleksandra, and Greg were waiting in line outside of Fiesta Del Mar, a seafood Mexican restaurant. I hadn’t seen Aleksandra nor Edwin for ages, and it was good to see what was happening in the world of FileFish. I found out a few days ago from Dan that John Russell, a former DoDot co-worker of mine, is now working at FileFish. Small world, ain’t it? Greg was visiting from Santa Monica, where he moved some time ago.

Randy and I had dinner at Lucy’s Teahouse; the other restaurant we wanted to go to was hopelessly busy. It’s certainly receiving the “new kid on the block” business. Yes, give it a few months, though, you can bet that traffic will be down. It happens like that to all restaurants, it seems. After Lucy’s, we were walking by Pho Hoa and the Lime Light, where I spied Jennifer Chang through the window! She graduated along with Juliana from Stanford a few months ago. Today, she’s working in South San Francisco. The person she was having dinner with knew some people with whom I work at Palm. Yes, it’s indeed a small, small world! I also found out that her brother, John, recently got married. Whoa! Congratulations out to John and Irene!

But, with no camera in hand, I wasn’t able to document the event! Zut alors! Jamais encore!

At Brian and Anita’s, we spent some time looking over their wedding album and proofs, getting a feel for what they liked and what they didn’t like from their wedding photographs. I’ve said this before, wedding photography can be a stress-filled job; you only have one chance to make a lasting impression for the newlyweds and family.

We had lunch at Baja Fresh, a Mexican fast-food restaurant in this small shopping complex in San Jose. This was a part of South San Jose that seems to be expanding rapidly depsite the economic downturn. There were many new and under-construction apartment and housing complexes in the area. It reminded me a lot of Del Mar back in the 80’s and early 90’s. There was a lot of construction in that area at the time, around Del Mar Heights Road. Today, it’s sprawling with tract houses and apartments.

This weekend, I’m going to catch up on a lot of work that’s been on the to-do list lately. It’s like a big stack, but it’s not necessarily FIFO (first in, first out). Sometimes, it’s more like pulling a random card from a deck!
