Uni-Watch is shutting down after 26 years.

Uni-Watch, a website devoted to the aesthetics of sports uniforms, is shutting down after 26 years. The site has been part of my daily routine for decades — and I’m genuinely sad to see it go. About a year ago, I wrote about the impermanence of the web when other favorite sites disappeared. Even when founder Paul Lukas handed daily duties over to his longtime deputy, Phil Hecken, I thought Uni-Watch still had many more years of great uniform stories ahead.

Sadly, that’s not to be. When a site you’ve followed for twenty years suddenly goes dark, it feels like losing a member of the extended family. There’s never been anything quite like Uni-Watch, and I honestly don’t know where I’ll find such comprehensive coverage of sports uniforms again.

Uni-Watch RIP 1999-2025.
