Happy New Year! On the 2nd of January, I went with Rae, Steven, Susan, Patrick, Bryan, and Elisa to Blowfish Sushi in San Francisco (there’s also a location in Santana Row in San Jose). The place is a typical high-priced Asian fusion restaurant. There was loud music playing in the background, along with large tv’s showing the Animatrix and Akira. The appetizers and sushi dishes all looked dazzling and artfully prepared, but the taste left much to be desired. With food, there’s a fine balance between quality, price, quantity, and presentation. While Blowfish gets high marks for presentation, the restaurant gets docked for quality and price. I had ordered some sashimi and found them to be a little too slimy and cold for my taste. I suspect a lot of the taste was drained away because the sashimi were sitting on a bed of crushed ice. To Blowfish’s credit, the desserts were pretty good.
After dinner, Steven, Susan, Bryan, Rae, and I went over to Romeo 5 for a quieter venue in which to converse.
