The April 2006 meeting of the Camera Owners of the Bay Area (COBA) user group will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 from 7:30-10:30 pm in the Orange Room at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center.
Future Location Change
I’ve just been informed that due to new Federal Regulations at SLAC (the Center is partially funded by the U.S. Government), we will not be able to use the Orange Room for future COBA meetings. We will spend 15 minutes brainstorming alternate meeting locations for COBA!
Riya
Imagine having everyone in your photographs instantly recognized and annotated. This is the promise of Riya, a Silicon Valley based startup.
Burak Gokturk, Ph.D., Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder will present his company’s exciting photo recognition service. “Burak is the ‘brain’ behind Riya’s photo recognition technology, and leads the research team. It is Burak’s desire to bring the usefulness of the computer vision science to human’s attention in this exciting venture. His team’s current work aligns with this goal and includes detection and recognition of faces, text and objects in photos taken under uncontrolled conditions.”
